My attempt at Machine cable knit socks

You cannot really tell but i tried to put cables on the front of the sock! The first sock i didi 2x2 cables twisted every ten rows. but then you really cannot tell the are cables. Next sock i didi 2x2 cables twisted very 5 better but still really didi not look like cable i need to work on it. Maybe i sould have released two stitches on each side of the cable instead of one. I wil give it a try. How do you block wool with out felting it?

I did some Machine Knitting

I finally made the baby her requested pair of pink socks i made them a little too big but that is ok she will grown in to them. I also made some white ones. Notice how I made one longer than the other need to pay attention next time.
I tried to make a skort. Ithought i could make some panties and attache a skirt. But if this is supposed to be a soaker where is the room for the diaper! so i stopped. Even if I was to make a protype what baby is wearing this and when. But i am proud of the fact that I designed the pattern myself with knit wear!

Finished Object

I am done. It was nothing but the Lord when I found that light yellow! I had just enough. Next one I do must have complete blocks. It is not bad though. Next is a white cardigan to compliment the blanket. With cute tulip buttons. What type of trim for the blanket though.

E.E. Meet up

This is the only pic I took during the meet up. Sorry I know. But I had a great time I met two people from Greensboro. With children the same age as mine! I was so excited. Everyone loved Ganache I was glad. because I really did not know where to go. I was late to whole thing I was so embarrassed. How you goin' host and be late! I missed Yarn etc. I need to go back and get some spinning lessons. I did not buy anything I ended up going to AC moore and buying some woolease thick and quick. In the pic we are at Stitch Point. at the half off table. but we really didi not see anything we liked. What didi I get out of this meet up. I need to make my ballet T. Stacey's looked great!

*&^%$ or get off the pot

Ok so I was crying the other day "i lost my mojo I don't know what to knit, bla, blah blah" So I didi something about it. I talked to Raena the other day ( she hurt her wrist so she has been out of the craft pocket) and she was like Iwant to make this log cabin blanket (the courthouse steps one from mason Dixon Knitting) I was like I do to I have a crochet pattern just can't figure out how to crochet it like that . I looked at the pattern for a while and it came to me in an instant. See All I need was to talk to someone. Ranea laughed at me. I had tried to do it one time before but I was doing it wrong last night banged it out. I am almost done. I love this pattern it crochets up real quick. probably would have been faster if i used a bigger needle. but me never being satified I am still not happy becasue I wanted four solid rounds but I ran out of yarn. It is still cute and I accomplished something.

I guess I love a challenge

I went to barnes and noble last night. I looked up this pattern. It is simple just two panels sewn together sorta like a poncho. One panel is longer than the other and you add a collar. The collar is what has me wanting to make it so bad. Here is the kicker this pattern requires 10 yes i said ten balls of Blue sky alpaca bulky. That yarn is 15 dollars a ball. a 150 poncho? I think not. But it is so pretty. All i need is the pattern for the collar I can make a plan one on the machine! It would not be as bulky. I can use Woolease thick and quick that is 6-7 a ball. Still 60 70 poncho. But I am worth it. think about this if I made a 150 pncho and washed it wrong and felted it you talking about hot! I am thinking of for going my jumbo fat bottom bag and getting the woolease t&q for this instead. Point is i have to have it!

what is next?

for the last three days i have tried to start something baby. I have a baby shower coming up in Nov. This may be one baby I make nothing for. I think it is becasue I know i don't have enough yarn. I don't know. what I really want to make is a Gucci inspired purse. The other day I went to a Jewish festival and I had my Fende bag i folded it in half to make easier for carrying and I loved it. Instanly I thought of Girlfriends and all the cute clutches they rock (mind you there is nothing in those purses but that is not the point) so i thought i could make one and even put a snap on it to keep it closed ( because I did end up unfolding from the wrong end dumping all contents on to the floor. Thank you so much for the two little boys who were there in a blink to pick all my stuff up). I even started it (here comes the excuse) I dropped both stitch markers, it is taking way longer than i planned , it is really thin yarn, blah blah blah. if I really want it I will just do it. and since i already did the base i should just do it. I learned something too. Raena always say she cannot or at least have not tried to knit in the round. I am like if I knit in the round you definitely can knit in the round but you know what I pick up stitches then knit in the round it is much different than casting on and trying not to twist the stitches! Which is why I have yet to do my Ballet T. maybe my motivation has changed at first i was always motivated to finsh something for someone else now I am more motivated to finish stuff for me. and I am not actually finshing anything cause i have to be in double digits right now on bags that need lining.
But on the map: the miter square wrap from Interweave knits, ballet T from Loop d loop and my gucci inspired bag. You know what I want that wrap off the cover of loop d loop crochet book. The one with the collar. Espaecially if we wear knee high botts that wrap is going to set what I ever i wear off. Now I am sure of the color that i want to knit probably black and grey or crimson and cream I guess it depends on the boots? it may even be brown or tan either way I want it!

I liked it so much I made two

I decided on one handle due to a suggestion on the granny along blog. She suggested my bag looked like the chole bag on berrocco I agreed and went in that directions. I didi one handle double crochet and the other single crochet. I like the single crochet. So I am going to change the double to single. Now it also goes on the pile of need to be lined bags. But since one of them is a gift I need to get on it.

And a name for this bag Wilobo (willow block hobo )

. Also it has been sugggested that I make the handle wider. I wll do that on the bag I need to change to handle on anyway.

101 Ideas: Knits

101 Ideas: Knits
I do not even wear hats but if I could make this one I would!

Not so dreaded swatch

My co worker is expecting her first great grandchild. We don't know what it is. and instead of the traditional yellow I went with black and cream. That still may change as well I want to say it is supposed to be a spring baby and I may go with a more neutral spring color like white. I am going to do either a big dotty baby bag or blanket ambitiously I thought I would do both but nah! I like the top motif of variegated border and cream dots. or the black border and cream dots. Don't want to do black dots because it will get linty (if that is a word). The swatch is sitting atop the German granny bag.

That was then this is now

ok

I stared out with 16 willow blocks and I got a bolster pillow when I wanted a bag. So I took out two blocks from each row and I got a small squat bag. Point is I got a bag not bad if I say so myself. I need help with the straps becasue I am not sure I am doing them right. I will go to granny along and look at the translated pattern.

Micro Mini's

the one of the right is a micro mini ballband washcloth. Cast on 21 do 5 bricks. The one on the left is a micro mini dotty (Micro dot for short) I cannot finish the micro dot till I finish the ballband because i want them to be the same length. But i can tell you cast on 20 follow pattern to desired length. These will be baby washcloths.

Big Dotty

I am making a baby blanket and a baby bag. Big dotty style. I am just swatching right now to see what color combo I will go with, so far not balck dots with cream border I am working on cream dots with black border. I also wnat to do A varigated border with eith a balck or cream dot and a varigated dot with either a cream or black border. This is just like a ballband washcloth. The possibilities are endless.

Latest bag to match shoes

I thought this yarn would match my shoes. I may it is just a little darker than the last beige bag and they went ok with that .
It came out I guess (i say guess because i wanted it big but did I want it this big?) bigger than I had planned it doesn't look bad I wonder how it will look once I put the lining in. Is has sort of a square base at least is has four corners. I expanded on a buttonhole bag base i statred at 21sts and increased to 29 sts. didi the regular 20 garter ridges then decreased. Pickup sts and went around till I was almost out of yarn then casted off 20 sts in the middle instaed of the regular 10 and didi moss sttich for a decorative edge. I didi run out of yarn. in closing i had to use a differnt yarn for like the last three sts. It is a design element. you all should it. it needs to be embellished. a plus is the holes are big enough so i can wear it on my sholuder. I don't really like the bottom and i amfraid that the handles are going to stretch real bad. I think I am bad now with my moss stitch handle. The handle could be wider. But since I ran out yarn i was tempted to use a differnt color. I need to tuck in the lose ends and line it. this could be considered my shopper. and or shopping bag. Lined propoerly i think it could make a darling baby bag.

h-o-m-e-c-o-m-i-n-g

Homeconing is about 2 weeks away and all i have are a pair of shoes a cute pair of shoes though. tel me what you think. i have made a winter garden bag (a little different but same concept) that sorta matches and then my Fendi that sorta matches as well i thought of the Fnedi when I saw the shoes. You see this years theme is "Show'em what ya working wit" Just like that incorrect an all. So I am trying. Can you beleive the shoes only cost $20. I know !

Do you see it yes those are more willow blocks! See thought i would surprise you. I am making the german granny bag out of willow block!s A round larger than life bag! Get Out! This is the first part of my tutorial. The blocks.

onthe winter garden bag I have to stain the dowels and glue on the bead plus line the bag. See if would have done the flap I could have almost been done but it would not have been so cute. Plus i love moss stitch. I have a matching moss stitch change purse on the way.

Sorry no pics

I am so sorry I have no pics but i will son . I am finally finished with 16 sqaures for the German Granny Bag. So I am trying to put together a tutorial which really insn't nessacry but if I can I will . I went for about two days without working on it now I have to sew it together. I want 1 a pic of all the squares 2 a pic of the squares sewn together in strips then a spic of the bag sewn together. Voila! tutorial. but seeing as it is not actually the german granny bag because I did my squares t-totally different should i call it a round granny bag tutorial? I don't know it doesn't really matter. I am excited about the bag.

What type handles

Buttonhole handles, clutch flap or dowel rods? I don't really think i want buttonhole handles i am really leaning towards the clutch flap. But I am not sure how sturdy that will be. it is made with a bottom so would a clutch flap look right? see my dilemma. I am so glad Girlfriends will be back in Oct so i can see all the hottest clutches they are wearing! I have also been thinking that i should give the jumbo fat bottom bag another go this time with SC. I feel i ran out of yarn (not because i did not enough) because i used DC. I hate to try and have my heart broken again. Yeah did not tell you I went to Hancocks and 1 they did not have navy and 2 it was 6.99 a skein! I need three plus the needle! Anywho i started the ballet t. I am having bit of trouble with the needles. The plastic needles never bothered me before when i was making buttonhole bags but now it is really a problem with this woolease. The pattern is not seeming too hard either. It is just going to take some patients.

Friday, August 31, 2007

Hummm

My jumbo fat bottom bag fell through because i ran out of yarn. My machine knit ballet t shirt fell through becasue i do not have enough needles. I have not started my machine knit anouck becasue i do not have the right yarn (cause you know i got yarn). this is why I am Creative (the ablity to fail without losing enthusiam).

On a brighter note I looked at all the ballet t shirts on Ravelry and I did not know you can make a baby one! So I am buyng the pattern today. I have to make some adjustments to make mine. One lady on ravelry gave a quick tut on how to do it so I am happy about that as well. The picture is the start of the german granny bag. I have 3 of 16 complete the five round granny squares. I just had a thought that I could make traditional squares and use a corrdinanting print fabric that you could see through the holes. a kntted one would be nice too just make 16 squares all the same size and sew them together. I need to work on that project. A german tote bag. Raena and I both thought about the sun spots and a nice bag I said even a larger than life bag. It would be the round larger than life. See now I want that one. it only took 1 and 1/2 skein of red heart to make 12 probably the other half to make 16. I would like that better. And i still can have my corrdinanting fabric. it is good to be creative.

Not Enough Needles

I made my swatch last night washed and dried it and everything! i put my infomation into Knitware and the patterns generates...I need at least 152 needles! So i may just buy the pattern i have some 15's at the house it only took Adrieene (sp) 5 hours I can do it. I thought it was knitted straight so i was like no got to do it on the machine but reading the description it is knit in the round and you do not even cut the yarn. SO I will just buy the pattern it is only $6.

Willow Block purse

it is a cute little purse so that I do not have to lug the big bag around. it holds just what I need keys and phone. I need a closure that is it.

Friday, August 24, 2007

Oh Yeah

I have started my fat bottom bag. You see I saw a jumbo fat bottom bag the cutest thing I ever did see. Now I have about four friends that have recently had a baby or will have a baby arriving soon. When I saw the jumbo fat bottom first thing that came to mind baby bag!

The pattern

Fat bottom bag pattern

3 skeins of wool ease thick and quick

Size N Crochet Hook.

I have rug yarn and size K crochet hook. I know it will not be as big as hers but it will be a start.

My biggest dilema what color?

Beautiful Iining

this will be the lining for my black buttonhole bag I made out of crochet nylon. Now I know those a navy blue flower but it is gorgeous I cannot help it. Now I wish I had some navy blue crochet nylon or wool. I bought the last yard Walmart had. it was $2 a yard.

@#$%^&* I am finished!@#$%%^

I am so mad. I mean I am glad I am finshed but I don't like it

it looks so unfinished. I am either goign to crochet and attach some long white handles or buy some short bamboo hadles. I need to take it by This and That so I can show them that I finished something. I went to them alot for advice and I am just now finishing something.

My next plan is to finshed my other granny square bag by sewing onto the other totoe bag I had. I may need to take soemthing off that bag as well to get it to fit onto the toe bag but we will see.

I am already thinking that I am buying a pan of pre made brownies or those big soft cookies from pepperidge farm. The instructions says bake a pan of cookies. Either way I cannot wait The baby wants some for her birthday party!

What would you do?

Now first off is my extra long sides! what do I do do I cut it off or do I extend it and make it the handle. My co worker wants it even though it is a duffle bag. She suggested i cut off the extra and put some extra long wooden handles on it. She even offered to make the handles. it is a pretty bag. it is just huge! So if you read my blog, come my blog on accident please tell me what you would do. Thank you.

Finished something...kinda

two mini's down. I need to tuck in the ends but pretty much they are done. And you know what I still have some yarn left I am going to make a square on the diagonal. Start with the light purple til I run out them do the dark purple.

Hey Now!

I spent the weekend at the beach. We stayed in a condo. It was so nice! I feel unexpereinced uncultured (if that is word) the master bedroom had a feather bed! my goodness I did not want to get out. The beauty of that place has inspired me to get my own niceness! Every room had a flat screen tv entertainment armoires (sp) the one in the living room had the pocket doors that I love. But the ones in the other room had these doors the fold flat against the sides and the condo owner put mirros inside the doors (or they came with them) either way I was in love.

Knitting : I made a mini ballband washcloth on the way to the beach.

I have one in the opposite colorway on the needles right now that will probably be finished during my lunch break. That is why I love the minis they go so quickly.

What did I tell you!

What did I tell you? Duffle bag. I am making a duffle bag! This thing is bigger than me! I just finished making the side and bottom band and I was like this is too big. So I lay out my sqaures and nope just right. Duffle bag.

Larger than Life Progression

So far so good. I am crocheting a duffle bag. Iam not even finished and I already have another bag in mind. a clutch. just four square in a row. Green black and white crochet nylon (because that is what I have at home) Oh! that is going to be oh so cute.

Babette progress

do not mind my ashy feet pay attention to the squares. This has proven to be a bit harder than I thought. Wish me luck.

Funny Quote

"...I know the species (men). There is not one straight, gay or quadraplaegic, I would not say, "He would cheat on you."" this was from the new show on Lifetime about the therapists.

On a craft note i am trying to finish the several bags I started. I am trying to finish something for a change! I actually have sewn together my blue black and white bag, and my khaki bag now i just need some lining and handles.

The Babette was kicking my butt. I could not figure out which colors to use i felt like I was trapped in a box. My resdient color theorist (Michelle) said just put them all on the table and pick out which ones go together. That helped because I had all my yarn in a bag and I was just grabbing yarn and it seemed like none of my colors went together. Thank you Michelle!

I made about three granny squares I have no clue what to do with but I saw a site about sharing a square for charity and so now I can give them to the charity. I will make one more so that they can have at least a block.

Ice Tea recipe

I bought a ice tea maker a while a go and I just love it. We like the lemonade ice tea mix and I decided to make my own the other day. Came out really well been making pitchers ever since (it has really only been about three days now) but last night I decided to use the other tea bags I had and hence the below recipe. it has a slight peach flavor.

Tropical Arnold Palmer

3 - family size Tetley peach and kiwi ice tea bags
1 - can concentrate lemonade
1 ½ - cups of sugar
Water

Into the pitcher, measure fresh, cold-water tot the 3 qt water mark. Pour into water reservoir.
Add water to pitcher to the 3 qt water mark. Add lemonade and sugar.
Add tea bags into tea steeping basket.
Fit pitcher into place for brewing. Turn on machine let brew.
Stir to dissolve sugar; chill
Makes 6 qts.

Food for thought

What kind of man or woman are you showing your child how to be. I heard that from Samuel L. Jackson in the movie Freedom land. He said, "...that is the kind of a man I showed him how to be."

Knitted Kitty Updates

Ok I am altering the knitted kitty pattern (removing the profanity and adding the number of garter ridges) and I see I lefet out 6 rows (3 garter ridges) form my pattern! Hot Dog! sad becase I am almost finished with my second kitty! Now I have to make a thrid one so I can one that is correct! Well that is that.

Saturday, July 14, 2007

now i am good to go

the pattern writer set me straight. 12 rows are 6 garter ridges. so that was 23 garter ridges. I had to take down 23 rows but i do not have to get more yarn.

Ok Now

I am trying to make this Kitty but I do not know if I show do 23 garter ridges or 46 garter ridges. I am almost complete with the 46 garter ridges and it looks much longer than the pic so I am starting over with a different yarn. Plus i am running out of fun fur. Hopefully I only need 23 then i wll have enough to finsh the whole kitty without haing to buy more yarn.

Close but no cigar

I am almost done. I bought some trim and sewed it on one of the slippers but i did not like it. I saw some feather trim which i think would be real cute diva slippers but it was 9.95 a yard even half a yard I was paying $5. So I went with the $2 white poof ball trim. So now that I wasted $2 I need to hunt down some rosebud trim which is what I was looking for to begin with. I want little yellow roses on white ribbon.
These slippers fit my baby's feet. Hopefully when I wash them they don't but even if they stay this large I can call them garter stitch toddler slippers. I am going to make the largest size with the white cotton for my baby. I am not sure how the author of these slippers got them sound round at the toe? I will figure it out.
I have started a Knitted Knitty. I am using white fun fur. I plan on attaching him to my larger than life bag (turning my bag into a pseudo pet carrier) she will have a big red bow with a pyramid or elephant charm. Cute! Stay tuned.

Garter stitch silk slippers

These need to be finished before i go down the road tomorrow. I just need to sew them up but i want tissue paper and a nice package oh my goodness i need ribbon or trim as well. i may have to mail them to her even though I am going to see her friday! Sorry I know.
I worked on my babette some at lunch. Man those 8 r's take some time. this blanket is going to be a real task. If the 8 rs took me this long and i have only completed two. What about the the bigger ones? If I do al of the 8 r's i wll run out of yarn. I need to do at least one of each square so that I can have may be one sqaure in each section out of the same yarn.
At the CB Meeting this weekend we plan on making squares for greensburgh. I had already planned on making some on the machine but hey why not as a whole. Garter stitch as well will not take long.
Looking at my slippers you can see the inc on the second one. See the first one i did the inc by knitting in the front end the back the second one I did YO inc.

Almost done

I am almost done all i have left is the sides and the gussests.

This is going to be a big bag I am thinking baby bag. No not for me. But lately that is what I have been thinking about do a layette. and I want a matching baby bag. Anywho i put a border around each square even though the pattern did not call for it.

What else is in the works. a teddy bear made with the moods yarn i bought from Rave knits. I think I am going to make some booties out of the tahki cotton instead of the sandals for ann's grandbaby I may just give her the yarn. It is really pretty yellow.

And i have started my actual babette with the blue yarn i got from michelle at the last meeting. I have made may things with the yarn i got form her. At first I was like i do not need any yarn i am not using the yarn i have blah blah but in the end all the blue was still there. and she was justgoign to throw it away. So why not take it home. and I am actually using it. I am also considering making something lacy with the black yarn i got from Vera a while back it is sitting there saying make something with me. I found two small balls of purple cotton they keep saying mini ballbands you know you want one! I saw a lady with a wrap at the airport when we were leaving San Francisco that looked handmade and i said I want one of those. I know i can whip it up on the machine. Just need to find the yarn. And now i am making (well i have not actually started) squares for the rebuilding greensburgh thing at sugar bunny blvd blog. I ahve always wanted to mass produce something on the machine and why not for a good cause. I wanted to do the the warm up america sqaures on the machine but i felt like i could crochet them faster and that is what i did. because i have to swatch first this will take some time. Once i swatch it is all down hill from there. You know do i have stash yarn? I am not sure I may not no big deal it will work out.

Oh yeah, my DOT bag is smaller than my Larger then life squares so i may end up using my bag I got on the cruise instead. or making my lining and zippper or at least paying someone to do it for me. I need a skein of yarn too. The sides and bottom are pretty long i don't have much yarn left. But that leaves me time for more crochet projects.

Sunday, June 24, 2007

G'day

Let's see i have started a new project. I am up to three projects going at one time and they are all crochet. I don't think I will be doing this much longer my wrist is starting to hurt. Lets see i am doing a teddy bear with the moods yarn I may need some more or I may take it down so i can do it in a solid yarn. I have the head ears and muzzle done I am working on the body next. I pray i have enough yarn because that yarn cost $10 a ball!. The bear in the simple knits for the cherished baby is not what I wanted but it is a challenge. I plan to convert it to MK. I am currnetly doing a lob cabin blanket. So far so good it will be red black and white. I have a pattern for a crochet miter square blanket. I cannot wait to get to a printer to print out this log cabin pic so that I can color it in. I need two or three squares left for the Larger than Life bag. I know I do not have a lot of red black and white. But I can get those easy enough at Walmart or AC Moore.
I am now on the Larger than Life CAL and All I need now is to take some pics and post them to the site. So off to complete some projects.

Larger than Life Continues

I am up to 7 but one is smaller than the rest so it will be frogged. They are as digny as all get out. Hopefully gain and some bleach will knock that right out.
i have assembled bag 1. but i keep making them. I saw a quote the other day in I think it was the Happy Hooker it said" a girl can never have too many bags if she makes them herself."
There are two bags in that book i want to make.
But notice I am half way through. I need to join the CAL. It wil be my first. off to join.
