I guess I love a challenge
I went to barnes and noble last night. I looked up this pattern. It is simple just two panels sewn together sorta like a poncho. One panel is longer than the other and you add a collar. The collar is what has me wanting to make it so bad. Here is the kicker this pattern requires 10 yes i said ten balls of Blue sky alpaca bulky. That yarn is 15 dollars a ball. a 150 poncho? I think not. But it is so pretty. All i need is the pattern for the collar I can make a plan one on the machine! It would not be as bulky. I can use Woolease thick and quick that is 6-7 a ball. Still 60 70 poncho. But I am worth it. think about this if I made a 150 pncho and washed it wrong and felted it you talking about hot! I am thinking of for going my jumbo fat bottom bag and getting the woolease t&q for this instead. Point is i have to have it!Wednesday, October 10, 2007
what is next?
But on the map: the miter square wrap from Interweave knits, ballet T from Loop d loop and my gucci inspired bag. You know what I want that wrap off the cover of loop d loop crochet book. The one with the collar. Espaecially if we wear knee high botts that wrap is going to set what I ever i wear off. Now I am sure of the color that i want to knit probably black and grey or crimson and cream I guess it depends on the boots? it may even be brown or tan either way I want it!

I liked it so much I made two

I decided on one handle due to a suggestion on the granny along blog. She suggested my bag looked like the chole bag on berrocco I agreed and went in that directions. I didi one handle double crochet and the other single crochet. I like the single crochet. So I am going to change the double to single. Now it also goes on the pile of need to be lined bags. But since one of them is a gift I need to get on it.
And a name for this bag Wilobo (willow block hobo )
. Also it has been sugggested that I make the handle wider. I wll do that on the bag I need to change to handle on anyway.

Not so dreaded swatch
That was then this is now

I stared out with 16 willow blocks and I got a bolster pillow when I wanted a bag. So I took out two blocks from each row and I got a small squat bag. Point is I got a bag not bad if I say so myself. I need help with the straps becasue I am not sure I am doing them right. I will go to granny along and look at the translated pattern.

Do you see it yes those are more willow blocks! See thought i would surprise you. I am making the german granny bag out of willow block!s A round larger than life bag! Get Out! This is the first part of my tutorial. The blocks.
onthe winter garden bag I have to stain the dowels and glue on the bead plus line the bag. See if would have done the flap I could have almost been done but it would not have been so cute. Plus i love moss stitch. I have a matching moss stitch change purse on the way.

What type handles

Buttonhole handles, clutch flap or dowel rods? I don't really think i want buttonhole handles i am really leaning towards the clutch flap. But I am not sure how sturdy that will be. it is made with a bottom so would a clutch flap look right? see my dilemma. I am so glad Girlfriends will be back in Oct so i can see all the hottest clutches they are wearing! I have also been thinking that i should give the jumbo fat bottom bag another go this time with SC. I feel i ran out of yarn (not because i did not enough) because i used DC. I hate to try and have my heart broken again. Yeah did not tell you I went to Hancocks and 1 they did not have navy and 2 it was 6.99 a skein! I need three plus the needle! Anywho i started the ballet t. I am having bit of trouble with the needles. The plastic needles never bothered me before when i was making buttonhole bags but now it is really a problem with this woolease. The pattern is not seeming too hard either. It is just going to take some patients.

Hummm

On a brighter note I looked at all the ballet t shirts on Ravelry and I did not know you can make a baby one! So I am buyng the pattern today. I have to make some adjustments to make mine. One lady on ravelry gave a quick tut on how to do it so I am happy about that as well. The picture is the start of the german granny bag. I have 3 of 16 complete the five round granny squares. I just had a thought that I could make traditional squares and use a corrdinanting print fabric that you could see through the holes. a kntted one would be nice too just make 16 squares all the same size and sew them together. I need to work on that project. A german tote bag. Raena and I both thought about the sun spots and a nice bag I said even a larger than life bag. It would be the round larger than life. See now I want that one. it only took 1 and 1/2 skein of red heart to make 12 probably the other half to make 16. I would like that better. And i still can have my corrdinanting fabric. it is good to be creative.

Not Enough Needles
I made my swatch last night washed and dried it and everything! i put my infomation into Knitware and the patterns generates...I need at least 152 needles! So i may just buy the pattern i have some 15's at the house it only took Adrieene (sp) 5 hours I can do it. I thought it was knitted straight so i was like no got to do it on the machine but reading the description it is knit in the round and you do not even cut the yarn. SO I will just buy the pattern it is only $6.

Oh Yeah

I have started my fat bottom bag. You see I saw a jumbo fat bottom bag the cutest thing I ever did see. Now I have about four friends that have recently had a baby or will have a baby arriving soon. When I saw the jumbo fat bottom first thing that came to mind baby bag!
The pattern
Fat bottom bag pattern
3 skeins of wool ease thick and quick
Size N Crochet Hook.
I have rug yarn and size K crochet hook. I know it will not be as big as hers but it will be a start.
My biggest dilema what color?

Beautiful Iining
@#$%^&* I am finished!@#$%%^

it looks so unfinished. I am either goign to crochet and attach some long white handles or buy some short bamboo hadles. I need to take it by This and That so I can show them that I finished something. I went to them alot for advice and I am just now finishing something.
My next plan is to finshed my other granny square bag by sewing onto the other totoe bag I had. I may need to take soemthing off that bag as well to get it to fit onto the toe bag but we will see.

What would you do?

Now first off is my extra long sides! what do I do do I cut it off or do I extend it and make it the handle. My co worker wants it even though it is a duffle bag. She suggested i cut off the extra and put some extra long wooden handles on it. She even offered to make the handles. it is a pretty bag. it is just huge! So if you read my blog, come my blog on accident please tell me what you would do. Thank you.
Finished something...kinda

Funny Quote
On a craft note i am trying to finish the several bags I started. I am trying to finish something for a change! I actually have sewn together my blue black and white bag, and my khaki bag now i just need some lining and handles.
The Babette was kicking my butt. I could not figure out which colors to use i felt like I was trapped in a box. My resdient color theorist (Michelle) said just put them all on the table and pick out which ones go together. That helped because I had all my yarn in a bag and I was just grabbing yarn and it seemed like none of my colors went together. Thank you Michelle!
I made about three granny squares I have no clue what to do with but I saw a site about sharing a square for charity and so now I can give them to the charity. I will make one more so that they can have at least a block.

Almost done
This is going to be a big bag I am thinking baby bag. No not for me. But lately that is what I have been thinking about do a layette. and I want a matching baby bag. Anywho i put a border around each square even though the pattern did not call for it.
What else is in the works. a teddy bear made with the moods yarn i bought from Rave knits. I think I am going to make some booties out of the tahki cotton instead of the sandals for ann's grandbaby I may just give her the yarn. It is really pretty yellow.
And i have started my actual babette with the blue yarn i got from michelle at the last meeting. I have made may things with the yarn i got form her. At first I was like i do not need any yarn i am not using the yarn i have blah blah but in the end all the blue was still there. and she was justgoign to throw it away. So why not take it home. and I am actually using it. I am also considering making something lacy with the black yarn i got from Vera a while back it is sitting there saying make something with me. I found two small balls of purple cotton they keep saying mini ballbands you know you want one! I saw a lady with a wrap at the airport when we were leaving San Francisco that looked handmade and i said I want one of those. I know i can whip it up on the machine. Just need to find the yarn. And now i am making (well i have not actually started) squares for the rebuilding greensburgh thing at sugar bunny blvd blog. I ahve always wanted to mass produce something on the machine and why not for a good cause. I wanted to do the the warm up america sqaures on the machine but i felt like i could crochet them faster and that is what i did. because i have to swatch first this will take some time. Once i swatch it is all down hill from there. You know do i have stash yarn? I am not sure I may not no big deal it will work out.
Oh yeah, my DOT bag is smaller than my Larger then life squares so i may end up using my bag I got on the cruise instead. or making my lining and zippper or at least paying someone to do it for me. I need a skein of yarn too. The sides and bottom are pretty long i don't have much yarn left. But that leaves me time for more crochet projects.
