Pictures at last

Ok here are the pics of my Babette in progress and i plan to make this into a bag. This will be cute with a black t shirt jeans and black pumps. the yarn porn is from my Bond weekend. Yes that is sock yarn! I have plans to make another pair of socks my second pair. If i ever make it back to Rave knits I wlil get some cotton fleece earlier today I was thinking this yarn would make great baby washcloths nice and soft. with the lime green nylon i have plans to make a medium size adventure bag by noni. I just need a swatch. I am going to make a long weekend bag with some white nylon thread. I need at least onr of these bags done before my beach trip. I am going to make a medium size adventure bag on the machine in acrylic. the green bag will be handmade so i can get an idea of how the bag is made. I am going to make the white one on the machine that is why i need to make the med one on the machine to see how it will work. so lets see! oh yeah and and i am going to make a solid babette. I have plans on a babette bag and blanket. solid of course. I am thinking a baby set. off to knit.

Babbette

I don't really like posting without pics but my excuse is I can't find my camera at home. But i had a bond weekend that was the best which is probably why the next weekend was so bad. I spent two days and two nights baby free even had a drink. did all kinds of yarn shopping. The next weekend i tried to do it again and she caught some virus threw up 8 times scared the mess out of me! Anyway back to the point of the blog. I have started listening to Lime and Violet. The last podcast one of them was talking about making a Babette form interweave crochet spring 2006 issue. She was calling it the crack of crochet. Which peaked my interest and off i went to search. It was actually ugly ( i did not really care for the colors) but i thought it was a great stash busting project. I have a whole box of yarn at home and i came home with a whole bag of free yarn from Michelle which i was going to make a log cabin out of. Until i saw the Babette and thought yes stash busting who care about he colors but i could not help thinking that that the Livingstone colors i was making my log cabin with would be so cut in the babbette so that is where i am . As son as i can get pics i will post some. If i am doing a baby blanket I have one strip down. And the bad part. I am not even finished with the first one and i already want another one. Another lady made a solid one. she is as bad as i am she hasn't finished her first one and she stared her second sold one. so let me finish this one and a solid one is one the horizons.

I finished my black nylon bag a really really want a large white bag. one my great knitting weekend i found some lime green nylon thread so i put the white bag to the side to create the green bag. it is not coming out the way i want to so i out it to the side. what was supposed to be a side project stash busting project has now followed me to work to work on at lunch! yes the Babbette in progress is beside me on the floor. What is confusing me is how to put it together. What color do i use to sew it all together is any color suing the back loop only. I have seen it done the traditional way. I am already doing the squares the traditional way i want to at least sew it together like the original. I have to put some question out there.
TTFN

it has been a while

I know it has been a while but i really don't like to blog without pics. any who, this is my latest creation. A nylon thread buttonhole bag. See there is something about buttonholes. Now I just have to line it. I still have not lined my cotton buttonhole bag.

I am torn I want a big white bag (this seasons fashion trend) but since i had to buy another roll of black nylon thread i can make a hounds tooth buttonhole bag!what to do.
my co worker says she wants to make a hobo bag with the nylon thread. I am like ok i will get you a pattern and show you what to do then a light bulb went off, I can do one too with the thin thread nylon I bought from the latin market. Oh and i got to go back to the latin market and get the purple i saw before. that is what i am going to make my hobo bag out of! I am not sure if I have the right size needle. See now i am buying more yarn.

i am also hoping that after i wash and dry this bag it looks more uniform. For example i have alot of big stitches i keep trying to pull on so that it look like the rest.
anyway on to the next bag.

Bad start

Well 4/1/07 was supposed to be the start of 100 miles in 3 months. Tomorrow will have be the start. I am going to walk 100 miles. In my house in front of the TV. I saw Meet the Robinsons today and Disney has a hit on their hands I really enjoyed it. Keep Moving Forward. Is what they said. I love it. I apply that to knitting so I started my Cable-icious KAL. I sat down today and wrote out my own (not a rewrite of someoneelses) pattern. I have plans on cabled baby socks and and a kimono (not cabled). All of these are machine knit by the way.

I need to get on my HKAL which will be the Jazzy chic line. Houndstooth baby bag, solid blanket and corrdinating swaeters hats and socks. "No project is too ambitious if you crave the result enough" Mason Dixon Knitting.

Partially Finshed Object

All I have left to do is line this bag. It came out pretty good. I want some pretty floral fabric. I was watching QVC last night and they were selling Sak bags. I have to have some nylon thread to make me a nylon buttonhole bag. The hole of my cotton bag did not come out as big as I wanted. but that is ok. I may put a piece of plastic canvas on the bottom and get some feet for it as well. Again watching QVC their bag had that a bottom without feet and she even folded it up. I can do that.

I restarted my Argosy blanket and now I have run out of yarn. But AC moore is having a Super Saturday sale then I will get some more yarn. I also changed to my size 5 circulars. I need to get some metal ones in the right size.

The Freak'em Girl is Equine Approved

I am taking pictures of my bag for the knitting wisdom pattern submission. We find this pretty spot with the horses in the background. I prop myself on this fence that i really don't think is going to hold me. and smile why does this horse come up behind me!. he did not get the picture but this horse bit my bag i have a nice grass stain on my bag from where he left his horsey slobber!
You should have seen me hopping off that fence! All i could see is that horse dragging my bag behind that fence and i was going to be so mad. How was I supposed to get my bag back? Bill (photographer) said what do you have in that bag? The horese must have thought i had some cookies in there and he was determined to get them. Look if i had some cookies I would have given them too him.

Man!

I had to load another browser just to get into blogger at work. This is my latest project. Actually I have several going, Argosy blanket , lobby cloth and now cotton buttonhole bag. I and nearing the end. I need to get back onto the Argosy blanket. This bag was supposed to be a baby bag but i did not make the base wide enough. I have plans for a Jazzy Chic Layette set. the hounds tooth pattern form the Freakem girl cream and black cotton oh yeah it is going to be fly. A solid Cream cardigan and a solid black cardigan sold black socks (gina ahren of course) and solid cream, striped socks as well and matching coordinating hats. this bag would have been jazzy chic but i did not have the pattern when i started.

These washcloths are from Mason Dixon KAL website. The other is the beginning of an Argosy Baby Blanket. I am going to ask the designer if I am doing it right. She has not wrote the pattern yet I am jumping the gun. Kay's Blanket was increased to 15 blocks i am at inc of 11 blocks and it looks real small. So I am kinda worried. Who knows how big I need to go since I am totally different than what they are doing? My baby says it looks like a pair of panties. And it does. The washcloths are real easy you see I did mini ones. I

Finished Something

I made two washcloths. I got the pattern from MDKAL. They were real easy to do. I made the first one and halfway through I said I got to make one opposite colorway. See that is how i end up making so many wahcloths then becoming tired of washcloths, there are so many possibilites. I have started on my Argosy bably blanket. I want to make a blanket with a matching baby bag. I thought the baby bag was going to ne the challenge but i see the argosy it self is i keep losing count of my rows. And I am at home all alone so i have no distraction(but the tv) and i have frogged the thing three times. I am using red heart because that is what i have. I have cotton and the author of the pattern says P&C is less thicker than the blue sky cotton she is usung so double up on the P &C. I have only one ball of P&C. Red heart is is I only have about half skein of that but i know where I can get more without the wait. I am using 6mm size needles. Wish me luck. I am going to need it.

So far

So far I have created a mini flora by berrocco, a baby genius scarf and a make shift argosy. I amnot done with the scarf and the flora felted well but the flowers are not so good and the argosy is a no no. The scarf is real beautiful though.

What I have been up to

ok other than the freakem girl i made this felted bag. I was thinking that Nora bellows prism bag was nothing but big dotty it is not it is bit more than that I am thinking cables. it is not bad though it is a great needle pouch I have yet to find the fabric I want to line it with and I am still debating a flower. so you can say I have a flat prism.

Ok the bracelet or the beginning of a bracelet. at the bond meeting annette showed some bracelets and i am trying to make one. This is my first stab at square stitch. I took me about four try to get what i got i was putting the needle in the back of the bead instaed of in the front. Now the instuctions clearly sat that but you know me. it is taking way more beads than i thought i am almost finshed with a n entire pack of .99 6mm seed beads. i have a little more to go it almost fits around my wrist. then the fun begins. I have a cold so i didi not work onit last night. Still not feeling all that hot so it may be sat or sun before I get back to it. I had plans on using some amber colored beads but i think i am going to buy some black beads to match the square stitch base. I was trying to do this with out buying too much but i want it right so hey! now i need small black seed beads.
the next bond meeting is in april and i am bringing beads i really hope Annet is there so she can teach me to make somethingelse. Alexis is coming to the meeting too.

I am looking for

I am looking for a knitting group machine or hand for mommies and their babies. I would like to get together but I have a toddler. I live in greenboro, NC so if you read this and know of a place let me know. I am even up to starting a mommy and me knitting group. You know i saw a lady in Chick-fil-A knitting one day see if just get with her we would have a small group. Maybe i can ask chick - fil - a if I could post signs or even hold a knitting group there during family night but now they are packed during then to tell you the truth when is chickfil a not crowed. McDodanlds would be better anywhere where my baby can play without me!

Second Sock Syndrome Swap

I got this from Girl is Crafty But since I do not or should I say I have not made a pair of socks by hand I thought why not machine knit them! So here are the rules

Purchase enough yarn to make a pair of socks.
Find a cool sock pattern.
Knit only 1 of the socks.
Package up the sock, the rest of the yarn, the pattern, and then any other little items that you think your swap pal might like (needles, more yarn, candies, little gifts, etc). Mail it out.

My ideas for a first pattern would be Gina Ahrens. This is if you did not have one of your own. I made one pedicure sock on the machine but I don't have the pattern down pat yet. But I used ginas pattern for it. The possibilites are endless.

We could even do sock wars, well eventually. Lets not put the cart before the horse.

Winter Wonderland Swap

I Got this today from Bagpuss. the pink square of wrapped paper is home made saop. It smells really good. I told her i was not sure when or if I was going to use something so special. But I know how it is to make something and the person doesn't use it so I will probably put it out on special occasions. You know when you break out the good napkins to dry your hands on.

Look at the pink washcloth she put some work into this. I would like to make one of these. My baby will love the Ballband washcloth it is her favorite color.

Warm up America

I spent four hours at AC Moore Sat making rectangles for Warm Up America. I ahve plans on goin back FEB to put them together. I am trying to make some while I am at home. I need to make Lela's Day Care Teacher a blanket. I am thinking log cabin. Lion Brand has a crochet log cabin pattern.

Angel Puffy

I have a jump ring opener! I had to email Malie to find that out I was like is this a ring or what.

Point of this blog was for the knitting and beading charms. Igot ballof yarn with needles in them and I love knitting and beading charms and tape measures. I plan on making earring with them. I think it is time that I got me some of those cards to put my stitch markers on. I wonder what type of heavy duty holepuncher Maile has to put a hole in an entire stack of post its.

I love them. I love knit weaveing would like to spend more time with the process just to see what I can do.

Hand knitting i have started my big dotty envelope clutch. I like it I am thinking of selling it on ebay. it is not hard at all and i did 8 inches in about two days I have 4 more or less to go. I was going to try and knit weave it but it did not go so well. I thought it was going to be harder than it was. The other day I was watching knittiy gritty and I saw this lady use one skein but she used the string from both ends of the yarn to double strand the yarn. Let me find out that will work for making buttonhole bags and it is on. No longer will I have to buy two skeins of yarn!.

When I am done the clutch I am going to try it out. I can make a brown buttone hole bag and line it with the purple and brown fabric and send to my cousin she wants a knitted purse. I am alos going to do a reverse color of the clutch in a coin purse size.

Another try

Man this took me all day. It is nice might could be better but I have to get faster at this.

I am trying my hand at digital scrapbooking. Not bad this is my third stab at it and I like it. Now journaling not so good. I need a book of poetry or quotes.

What I did on my Christmas Vacation

I made what I am going to call is a ballband envelope clutch. And another machine knit Ballband Washcloth. This one came out great. I was going to make it into a little bag but i was like no let's use this one as an actuall washcloth. It is really puffy. I need to make some more. I haven't really got a [ppattern down. I need a class on gswatch ing. all I do now is take a ball of left over cotton and make an icord( or a cheater icord, cast on 3 sts and knit til the end) Then I casted on 15 eon(just like in the patern can you beleive it!) and the picture you see is what I have. I also took a pic of it in action!

The clutch is pre felted it is felting as I type. It is basic buttonhole stlye. I sacted off one side and worked the other side till it was long enough. Now on the bag the ballband is in ss. But on the flap it is garter. I kinda don't like it. I did not plan it too well maybe the next one if I make a next one! I like the envelope clutch idea just not the ball band.

Getting in as much crafting in as I possibly can!

Ok the TACK x-mas party went well of the four rooms in the house I had three doors open. Much better than the last house. But now that all that cleaning is done and i am on a weeks vacation I am going to get in as much kntting as I possibly can!!!! For starts I made a machine knit ballband washcloth. Things that I learned do not pullit real tight. You see those three rows that are all the same and not offset as it should be. mistake I think not that my friend is a machine knit Baby Genius Burp Cloth!

By the way for Chirstmas I got the Mason Dixon Knitting Book!!!! Oh yeah!!!

Ok I have also made Jewelry. Coleen came over with her fabo wooden bead necklace which reminded me that I had to make one. Then Alexis got some brown shoes that same noght and the light went off make a wooden bead necklace to match my brown shoes. (Really Alexis brown shoes but I am not supposed to be making plans for her stuff.) So I made two the third one is coming but I ran out of toggles and clasps. Who knew? I wore the light brown set today. I plan on wearing the off white set with all black. I should send these pic s to Coleen. Show her what she inspired me to make. Don't they look retro!

Well off I go to get more crafting in. I am going to make a burp cloth!

This Will Blow Your Machine Knitting Mind!!!

Shut your mouth and say it ain't so!!! Can you believe this! I know it is not and exact match to a ball band washcloth but it is close enough. I have got to get me a cool corder. Now I have the manual one but I want the crank one so I can spit out some icord actually I can make icord on the machine as well. Go Bond!!

Do you the implications this has. There are too many to count. I might be able to knit weave the hounds tooth with this method. I am out done. Stick me with a fork!!!!

Knock Off

All I need now is a ttd creations tag. The inspiration piece is a mink pom pom key fob. So I thought hey I could do that with fun fur. So here is my knock off version. it not as round and sheds like the dickens but it is mine. Next time i am going to use wool and funfur then felt it. That way I should have a soild ball with little to no shedding.

Sad Sad Craft Day

Like I was telling Raena if it was raining soup my bowl would be turned over! I cannot win for losing. First the bag was curiling so much I not could sew anything to it so I decided to sew it together then put the lining on it. Then I had to find a needle and thread so that I could sew the lining together then attatch it to the bag but the thread I had was white and I don't want white to show on my bag so then I bought some matching embroidery thread and then last night when I am trying to attach the lining to the fabbric I had the lining turned the wrong way so it ws too short so now I have to start over. Hot Dog!!!!! So here is the new games plan. The bag that is sewn together already attach the sorry sewn together lining to the bag with the purple floss. Soak bag number two and block it. Hopefully this will take out the curl. When dry sew lining to bag and go from there. Barring house work I am going to try and get my sewing machine out and working but we will have to see. I would like to have the side siewn better than they wish me luck.

Machine Knit Freak'em

oh yeah! oh yeah! Ok I made two I got to make one for my baby. I need to make change purses. The next one will have dowel rods for handles. It is going to be real pretty once finished. They were real quick to knit as well. This one is 15" wide and 18" long. So I casted on 53 and knit 99 (100) and viola! Freak 'em Girl! The flower fabric is purple as well as chocolate brown! So you know I need chocolate brown yarn.

Going's On

I am working on my pattern submission. I made a fun fur scarf last night and I used worsted weight yarn and a sport wieght at the end. The sport weight is so much better but I don't know what I did with the sport weight yarn. It is sitting with the other ball of fun fur that I cannot find laughing at me mockingly.

I had plans to create a SS freak'em girl but I did not have time. The scarf took longer than I thought. So I will do it tonight. I took the gauge and eveything I like that knit check.
I am using the purple yarn from a poncho I took down and I will cast on 42 sts and knit 99 rows.

I will at least have the piece tomorrow. I don't know what fabric but I am using those bamboo handles if the bag is big enough.

My first pattern submisson begins!

Ok I got a swap pal. Who even after the swap we talk like we have known each other for ten years. She is submitting a bag and have inspired me to do so as well.

So I got the yarn yesterday. Here is my sad problem I only have one set of needles which can be easily solved I know. I only have one more washcloth to go for my xmas gift but I want to start my bag.

Ok here is what I was thinking. A houndstooth tote/clutch. I was going to do a clutch on the machine but just thinking about pulling out those neeldes I was like no. I had a pattern for handknit houndstooth that sounds really simple so I said why not.

Finally

Pics of my felted bags. DKNY is my first attempt at intarsia not bad if I say so myself.

Now this bag needs it own paragraph. This is my first buttonhole bag. I got a pic somewhere of it before it was felted and after i hand felted it. See I just moved into a house. And I have had my washing maching for three years now. Since Lela was born. and the hot water did not work on the washing machine. So I learned how to felt by hand. I thought I was doing something! Honey when I moved into the house, Leon brought the washer and dryer down a flight of steps plus got into the laundry room all by hisself, I hooked it up and I had never did that before and point being I checked to make sure I connected it correctly and I had hot water! Shut your mouth and say it ain't so!. First thing I did was find my buttonhole bags and put them in the washing machine. A little more back story. When I first felted my buttonhle bag I thought I was done the bag still had holes in it. I actually lost a crochet hook I had put into it one day. But I figured that hey it was my first try not bad. Oh No!. I put that puppy in the washing machine and after two washes the pic above is what you got. Why is it as small as my mini buttonhole bag?

Mini, micro, and nano the threebags pictured. Cruising the mason dixon kal blog like I do everyday all day. I come across the mini buttonhole bag. So i make one it goes so fast I make another but the color combo will be differnt however i have less yarn. Ok lets jst use less rows even faster so i make another one but with less yarn. and there you have the mini, micro and the nano. Man I need more wool.

pedicure sock

ok here is my first attemp at a pedicure sock. You can get the actual pattern at Knitty.com I got the idea from Raena. I made this on Monday. Off bat it is too big. I use red heart soft. That is a great yarn. And I use GIna Ahren's Ankle Sock For the Whole Family patern as usual! I put too many rows of ribbing at the bottom. It calls for 32 rows for the foot and I did 16 and ribbed the last sixteen rows. Like I said too many. Next time I will do only 5-6 rows. So this means I need to do the medium for me and the small for everyone else no larges.
I had not machine knitted in a while so it felt good to get a sock off the machine in an hour and a half. I was tired too but i wanted to see that sock. I was going to do it on Sun but could find the patern to save my tail. You know I found it I want to say yesterday or this morning. Still did me no good. so my next attempt will be with the same yarn and just one size smaller.

Mini Ballband Christmas

On the Mason Dixon KAL blog someone posted pic of the ballband gifts she was giving. I decided to follow suit with miniballbands. i have two complete I am working on the third. I have six planned out hopfully I don't run out of yarn. I found a big ball of ecru so I am good there. Thses are for Ms. Mary's Kitchen she changed her whole house form red to sage grenn so fast it looked easy! I love my blue so I am good I just try and follow her lead but with blue. I hope she likes them. I made her some little britches but she never used them she hung them up like decoration. I was thinking abou tmakeing her some of those but I am too far into the ball bands. I thought about making myself some I am probably going to use them as decoration as well.

Hers was the one I decided to carry the color all the way through. I should continue. That mean I need to get some more beads. With Joye's set I had a value pack of beads.
Point being I am glad she enjoyed her puffy.

I Did It!

Oh yeah I did it! I kept at the pattern all day and I made my earrings! Oh yeah I did it! Will post a pattern later. And this is my first hand knit pattern. Raena and I are talking about submitting a purse pattern to knitted wisdom.com and I got two ideas a houndstooth clutch or a ballband clutch. Houndstooth I am going to do on the machine fairisle and of course the ball band by hand.

Too Big

Ok my birthday was tuesday 11/28. The guys at my job gave me some money and Leon gave me some money in addtion to my other b-day gifts. I had my 40% off coupon ready to go get my sock needles. Why did I walk out of the door without it? So tired of waiting I bought them full price. I also bought some tightly woven yarn(Senso cotton) and the french back earring hooks. I had plans on wearing them today that is why I wore red and black. To make a long story short I made one earring (the one pictured) and it came out too big? First I don't know which set of needles are the 000 ones so I picked the smallest or at least what I thought was the smallest set. I am sure my yarn is right. I used some old sock yarn I had from my first and only pair of socks that I made and the Senso cotton is thinner than the sock yarn. I should have bought a needle gauge. I will today. I thought about when I open the pack and discovered that the numbers are not on the needle. I emailed the pattern writer to see if she had a clue as to why they came out so big. I am going to email Kay or Ann to see if they can explain the 6+3 thing in reference to the ball band washcloth.

Ballband Fever

I got the fever again. Someone posted a apttern for miniball bands and I just had to have one i got half one already made it only rtook me an hour. I would have had all 8 rows of ricks done but i took it done because I thought i could do the pattern by heart. No. it will be finished tomorrow so I will have a pic then.

More Felting

Ok these are prefelted needle rolls. I got the pattern from Berrocco. One is knitted and one is crocheted. I just finished the knitted one. So I will probably felt them tonight. I got my last swap apl. She knits mostly socks. Last night I bought some real small jump rings now I have a great use for them. I would like to make some needles as well. I will work on that. And I bought two small xmas trees and I put them in the milk glass urns. So far they are very cute I have to buy some lights. They had some small lighted x-mas tresses but they were like 10.00. I know I can buy some lights for $1 at the dollare tree so I got the $1 tree. Now for ornaments. I was thinking ballband earrings.

New Jewelry Addition

If you did not know I am a novice jewelry maker. Can you believe I made this! I am very proud of myself. I was supposed to be making my swap pal stitchmarkers But this necklace(and cute bracelet as you can see) was calling my name. I did make her stitch markers though. I had to do those first because I had to wait until the little one went to bed. All I need are her extras and hers will be in the mail fairly quick. I have planned her extras as well. I found that picking a theme early helps a lot. I cannot find my box of findings so begrudingly I am going to have to buy some more. Thank you God they only costs .99. I need French back hooks monofilament and jump rings. So back to AC Moore.
